When I published a picture wearing my first Maggie Sweet dress on Instagram, everyone loved it. And I can understand why. From the very first moment the brand asked me to be their Brand Ambassador, I knew this adventure would be very successful, because the clothes designed by Maribel Ruiz couldn’t be more cute or fit the body better. On that first picture, I was wearing this dress I show you today with more detail. The pictures were taken in Paris and it also appeared on this video.
Today, apart of showing you these pictures, I wanted to explain you a little bit how is the creation process in a family company like this, with all the process made in Spain with love and passion. And you can feel this in the offices and see it in the result.
The designer makes a mood board with the colors, trends of the season and inspiring elements. By the way, I was so lucky to see the mood board for the next season when I visited the HQ of the company 😉 You will love the next collection. Then, a name for the collection is chosen and the work starts.
In Maggie Sweet the drawings are made manually and later they become digital. This is very unique. Another interesting thing is that the prints are exclusive for the brand and designed for the design department of the company.
To be sure that the clothes fit perfectly the body, they first make the first sample until it is perfect and then all the rest of pieces are made in the final tissue!

Cuando os enseñé la primera foto llevando una prenda de Maggie Sweet (por Instagram) os encantó. Y no me extraña. En el momento en que la firma me propuso ser su embajadora, sabía que iba a ser una unión exitosa, porque las prendas que diseña Maribel Ruiz no podrían ser más cuquis ni sentar mejor. En aquél momento, el vestido que os enseñé fue el que os muestro hoy con más detalle en este post, y que fotografiamos en París y también apareció en este vídeo.
Lo que más me apetecía explicaros hoy, además de enseñaros las fotos, es el cómo es el proceso de creación de una firma de moda que pertenece a una empresa familiar y que es totalmente made in Spain. Cuando visité sus instalaciones pude percibir todavía más el cariño que se plasma en todo el proceso. Y eso la ropa lo transmite, es así. Cuando a algo le pones amor y pasión, eso se nota. En todos los ámbitos, y en moda, mucho más todavía que en otros…
Maribel Ruiz, diseñadora de la marca, crea un mood board de inspiración con los coloridos, tendencias (de la próxima temporada) y todos aquellos elementos que le puedan inspirar y a partir de ahí empieza a trabajar. Por cierto tuve el privilegio de ver este mood board para la próxima temporada y os adelanto que os va a enamorar. Luego se da el nombre a la colección y se empieza a trabajar bajo la temática.
Algo que me sorprendió ya que no es habitual, es que en Maggie Sweet se dibujan las prendas a mano y es en una fase posterior cuando se digitalizan esas imágenes. Otro tema que me gustó mucho saber es que los estampados son propios, dibujados en el departamento de diseño de la compañía.
Para asegurarse de que la calidad en los patrones sea la que es (como os decía, sientan de lujo), la patronista confecciona la primera muestra «en sucio», para luego probarla y hacer las modificaciones necesarias hasta que siente perfectamente.
Luego se pasa a limpio con el tejido elegido y voilà… ya veis el resultado 🙂

Que guay, siempre es interesante saber estas cositas. Mi madre crea justo al revés, ve la tela la compra y va pensando e inspirándose en la prenda le viene como un flash (así lo llama ella) y se pone a medir para ver si da la tela, si da se lanza a cortar (al menos para mi ropa, que ya me tiene cogido el cuerpo. Hay veces que si hace patrones). Y luego lo cosé todo, si hay que poner algún adorno vamos a la mercería de aquí o de Toledo para ver cuál le va mejor y se la colocamos. Pero hay muchas firmas que hacen la «toilete» para una vez se tiene perfecta hacerlo en la tela correspondiente.
