¿Me explico?

Me explico.

Which ones will be the top fashion blogs of 2019? Or better, what is the future of fashion blogs? How to succeed with a fashion blog? But are blogs still alive? And the bloggers? Blogger or Influencer? Difference between Blogger and Influencer. These are only some questions we can have in mind for this year. So I’m going to start this 2019 sharing my thoughts with you, since I have been in the blogging scene for 9 years now, and I have my own opinion on how the fashion blogs that will succeed in 2019 will be or should be.

Before starting, happy year 2019 to everyone 🙂 Sorry for my absence (here, on Instagram you have seen me every day). I told you while I was in LA that we were really focus in a project that we are very excited about and in a short time I will be able to unveil. And if something had to resent in terms of reducing publications, it has been the blog. But I don’t feel good when I don’t publish for so long because, going to one of the questions, blogger or influencer? Well I feel myself and I am a blogger (person who has a fashion blog) and I also have social networks around it like Instagram. Difference between one and another term? Very simple, to have or not have a blog. That said, a blogger may be an influencer but a person who is influential for any reason does not have to necessarily be a blogger (because that would imply that she or he has a blog). I explain myself well? That is, in my case I am a blogger and also, if they give me the Influencer label, although I am not passionate about the term, the truth is that it is very good because it is like a little medal that credits something. But above all, I consider myself and define myself as a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger.

Let’s continue: are blogs and bloggers still alive? More than ever. Let me explain myself. Blogs started as an alternative to fashion magazines and people loved them because that was something new and fresh, with all the good things that fresnesh brings. Until they were professionalized and perfected so much that they came to look like a fashion magazine. That was said sometimes with negative connotations, but I have my own opinion and is that, to perfect the photography and template of a blog and to improve the style of the blogger,  doesn’t need to mean that her blog lost its  «soul «.

And it is just the blogs and bloggers that have known how to maintain their soul (their essence), those who are alive and stronger than ever. Why do I say stronger than ever?

Because, speaking of blogs, there are not so many new ones created every day as before (now instead hundreds of thousands of Instagram accounts are opened) so, those who were already on the scene, are better positioned than ever in the search engines and the new ones will have to work so much on their SEO etc, but they have more room than a few years ago. And even more if they come from someone with a strong presence in another social network. That’s my theory of what will happen with fashion blogs.

But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have to stay alert and ready to adapt to the new times. Which ones will be the top fashion blogs of 2019? How will blogs succeed in the future? And, how will be the top influencers in 2019? To answer this and do it with order, I will just enumerate what, in my opinion, are the keys for a  successful blog and with that «soul» to which I referred before (also applicable to the social networks in general):

  • The community is more important than ever. With changes in search engines and algorithms in networks because of the exponential growth of these virtual spaces, it makes more sense than ever to create, pamper and grow our communities from person to person, as equals, listening, answering, interacting with other people who talk about the same issues as us … at the end of the day, social networks should be a reflection of real social relationships, so today more than ever, it is essential to keep that in mind when we plan, create and share our content. In my case, I receive lot of comments asking how is possible that I’m so «cute» with my community… well, I just try to be myself and I’m really thanking the same about the people in my community: they are so cute with me so the only thing I want to do is the same for them as much as I can. I like to know that people who follow me are inspired by my content but I want them also to be inspired by me as a person.
  • Be natural. Right in my Tuesday’s photo on Instagram I talked about it and on the radio I also said it (you have it in my featured stories, but is in Spanish). It is very good to get nice photos with ideal filters (90% of the messages that come to me are about my filters and how I edit my photos) but the photo should not lose freshness, reality, again «soul», identity, as my colleague Anna told me in the Instagram photo that I told you. This can be applied to social networks and blogs, obviously.
  • Create more help content.  There is a lot of inspiration in Google, in Pinterest… (yes, I do have all my  inspiration panels on my Pinterest page for you to take a look if you want to ;)). But there is not so much good content (and with «soul») that helps to assimilate, digest and order that amount of information. Therefore, any content that has the purpose of helping to improve something specific, will have more impact than a «simple» look of the day or «this is my favorite cream» post. As always, the important thing is to be ourselves and what I say does not have to be a manual for all bloggers but it is true that it is a good thing to have in mind while planning our content or how to communicate it.
  • The content in video format. It is very clear at this point that the more dynamic formats are the ones that people engage the most, so it is essential to offer them as often as we feel comfortable but doing it on a regular basis. You have seen me, I hope, more present lately on my stories. I am very shy, I always say it, but receiving your feedback when I film and post stories on my Instagram gives me a lot of security to continue doing it and helps me a lot on my personal level.
  • The personal brand I do not mean to register as a brand (which may also be a good idea, why not, I registered my name when my networks began to grow a lot), I refer again to identity, to build a solid base of what your philosophy and style are, what you are. That when someone sees your content they should think: «ah, ok, it’s totally her». For this reason, the main thing is to know who you are and what you want to communicate in your blogs, with what kind of language, with what kind of filters and photo style… try to identify aspects that make you unique and empower them to built your personal brand. It is better to work on that than to waste time and energy copying other bloggers. Of course, inspiration is always welcome 😉 But once we have it, let’s use your creativity and let your «soul» be free… if you try it, you will not go back. And all this, of course, has to be applied when choosing the brands with which we work. In my case, we discard proposals on a daily basis because we do not consider that are «Mónica Sors». In the same way, it is important to advise brands on what type of content works best in our profile or blog because in the end it will make more sense to modify their initial idea a bit in order to obtain better results. And nobody better than us to know what works and what does not in our community, blog or Instagram.
  • Be humble. The cool thing is not anymore to be cool (in terms of personality), it’s being human, being grateful, being a person first of all, being real, not believing yourself superior to anyone and trying to be better every day, as a human being and in everything you do. And I will finish my recommendations with this one, because it seems to me the most important one.

These have been my keys talking about the essence of what should be the blogs at this moment. But if any of you is worried about technical issues of the blog, or need professional support to create, migrate, update the blog template, make security copies or whatever related, let me recommend you IconWeb. I have been with them for years and I’m so relaxed because I know my website is in good hands.

What do you think about this topic? Tell me, it seems very interesting to know how you see this issue. Hope you like my look of the day, by the way, which is composed by an asymmetrical midi skirt, sweater and sneakers, with my newest YSL Collège bag (in medium size). A comfy casual chic look to attend my English lessons with The Student Consultant in LA. Big kisses and have a great Thursday!
